Jillian Williamson

Jillian Williamson is working in association with Sankoff Criminal Law, providing legal services in Calgary and Southern Alberta.  She is an experienced litigator in criminal, quasi-criminal and regulatory cases. She has successfully argued at all levels of court in Alberta. She also has extensive experience in sexual assault litigation. The majority of her practice is comprised of sexual assault, violent offences and drug offences.  

Jillian became a criminal defence lawyer after working for the Public Defender’s office in Seattle, Washington. She gained extensive experience in cases ranging from minor infractions to death penalty cases. Her experience has honed her ability to understand that each client’s case is unique. Facing a criminal charge is frightening for most people; she practices criminal law because she is devoted to helping those who need effective and cost-efficient legal help. Each person who seeks her counsel has individual concerns and goals regarding his or her case. She has committed to listening to these concerns and providing advice with compassion and objectivity and is dedicated to my work and committed to defending her clients. She is tenacious and will not stop fighting for her clients until she receives the best possible result in the case.

Surrounded by stellar lawyers and Judges as she began her practice, Jillian has always understood and respected the value of personal freedom and the protection of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. She articled with the Provincial Court of Alberta. She was responsible for researching and writing legal opinions that were used by Judges to assist in their assessment of legal issues in preparation for their decisions. Jillian is a published author in the Canadian Criminal Law Review. She regularly researches and writes articles on topical legal issues. Additionally, she was also a Crown Prosecutor. This experience allows her to instantly know criminal law from both sides, which makes her extremely effective at knowing how to precisely challenge the prosecution’s case. This experience has enhanced her commitment to being the first, best, and strongest line of defence for her clients.
