Sunna Sahib
Student-at-law
Sunna Sahib is a student-at-law who completed her law degree at the University of Alberta, where she also earned her undergraduate degree in Criminology. Since the outset of her academic career, she has been interested in pursuing a career as a criminal defence lawyer. Sunna recognizes the significant impact that criminal charges and convictions can have on an individual’s life, family, and future. This informs her commitment to advocating for those navigating the criminal justice system and protecting their rights.
Sunna has gained practical legal experience before and during law school. During her undergraduate degree, she completed placements with the Youth Criminal Defence Office and Lee Law Office. She later worked as a youth worker, supporting at-risk youth with complex needs. She also served as a board member of the Youth Restorative Action Project before becoming its President for one term. Sunna then worked as a legal assistant at a criminal defence office, where she assisted with client intakes, court materials, bail release planning, disclosure, and trial preparation. During law school, she volunteered with Student Legal Services of Edmonton, where she assisted low-income individuals with criminal law matters and appeared in court as required.
Sunna is eager to continue her journey toward becoming a criminal defence lawyer under Peter Sankoff’s guidance.
